Biography

Rasim Arkadyevich Kamlia

Abkhazian scientist, teacher, public figure.

He was born on July 06, 1947 in the village of Lykhny, Gudauta district of Abkhazia.

In 1954, he entered the Lykhna Secondary School, from 1960 he continued his studies at the Sukhumi Boarding School No. 1.

After graduating from high school, he entered the Moscow Institute of Electronic Engineering (MIEM), graduated in 1970 with a degree in "Development and design of electronic computing equipment". In the same year, he began working at the Sukhumi Institute of Physics and Technology (SFTI) of the Ministry of Medium Mechanical Engineering of the USSR as an engineer, and since 1976–as a junior researcher.

In 1978, he entered the correspondence postgraduate school of MIEM and defended his thesis for the degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences in 1982.

Since 1983, in combination with his main job at SFTI, he began teaching at the Abkhazian State University (ASU) at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics. He lectured on the physics of semiconductors and the theoretical foundations of electrical engineering until the beginning of the Patriotic War of the Abkhazian people in 1992-1993.

In parallel with his main work, he opened a public physics and mathematics school at the SFTI in Sukhum with a three-year course of preparation for admission to the institute. All graduates of this school entered Russian technical universities, some later engaged in scientific work and acquired academic degrees.

One of the graduates of this school, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Enik T. L., works at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna, and also participates in research at the Hadron collider at the CERN laboratory (Switzerland).

After the end of the war, he was appointed director of the Sukhumi Institute of Physics and Technology in 1993. Concurrently, he continued to work at ASU as the head of the Department of" Technical Physics " and worked there until the end of 1996.

From 1996 to 2006, he continued working as the head of the laboratory.

He resumed his work at ASU in September 2009 at the Department of Electric Power Engineering.
